Capers Steakhouse - Detroit

This casual steakhouse in the heart of Detroit has been around since 1982. Capers doesn't take reservations, yet it's still a popular destination for special occasions with friends and family.

What makes it unique is the fact that diners may order steaks by the ounce as well customize their meals. Four cuts of steaks are offered: the signature Delmonico, plus New York strip, T-bone, and filet. Mondays and Tuesdays are reserved for discounted prices for T-bone steaks; and on Thursdays and Sundays, guests get deals on Delmonico. There are also burgers as well as Philly cheesesteak, and a New York-style turkey Reuben.

Everything is cooked to order.

Honestly, I used to come here for the Monday T-Bone special. Where else can you get a 27 oz steak from a steakhouse for under $40? Usually it's like 30...

The atmosphere was so nice and inviting! There was distance between patrons and it was so clean. The staff was very friendly and customer oriented. The drinks were delicious and worth every dollar. Dinner was amazing! I ordered the Surf and Turf dinner and it did not disappoint. I will definitely be visiting again real soon! If you're reading this, go on in and check them out.

The steaks we're as good as Ruth Chris Steakhouse if not better. The staff was excellent very friendly and very attentive. And half the price of Ruth's Chris Steakhouse

Friendly staff. The steaks are great. They give you jumbo baked potatoes loaded with bacon cheese chives and sour cream. In the "hood". They will take your lunch money!! On Gratiot. Stay clear if soft 😎

Great place to dine. Their variety of steaks & potatoes are delicious. Don't forget to try an 18 oz or larger steak butterflied!! The only issue with this place is the size. It's a very small restaurant so you may have a long wait if dining in.

Cheap. Great at what they do. Make sure you fast before getting a 45+oz steak and loaded baked potato. Drinks on point too. Come hungry!

It's places like this that reminds you how Detroit shines. This is a low-key, and rather chill spot on the Detroit Eastside, that makes some of the best tasting steaks in the entire city. Make sure to order a steak, and an appetizer of their fried shrimp, and do not leave this place without having one of their tasty cocktails. Amazing.. 👌

Had a wonderful dinner & drinks with family. The best Margarita's! Food was delicious, I had the BBQ chicken. Half of a chicken fried to perfection, plus sweet sauce. Thank you for a yet another...memorable meal. And as ALWAYS 5⭐ service!!

This has turned into my favorite spot! Good Food, Great Drinks! (Thanks to Ali She's the BEST Bartender Ever! #GOAT) & even better friendly Service start to finish. Everything from steaks by the ounce to homemade dessert is delicious! Adding, they have daily specials.. Truly a Hidden Gem..

One of the best steaks I've had in Michigan, by far. Staff was friendly, bartenders were great with conversations and very jenerios when pouring drinks. I will be back again to enjoy the great food and atmosphere.

I sat at the bar and attempted to drink a huge margarita!! It was very potent, I couldn't finish it, it was good! I ordered a baked potato topped with steak and it was delicious!

I don't know how it was before Covid but right now it's sort of looks like a train station or bus Station but if you're in the mood for meat and potatoes...
