Band of Bohemia - Chicago
It shouldn't come as a surprise that Band of Bohemia snagged a Michelin star in its first year of business. The Ravenswood-based eatery's helmed, after all, by alums of some of the most celebrated restaurants in the city.
"The Band" boasts distinguished tenures from the likes of Acadia, Alinea, Dusek's, El Ideas, Longman & Eagle, and the guys have combined their diverse experience to create a super brewpub. The food centers on the beer created by co-founder and head brewer Michael Carroll.
In 2009, Carroll quit his job as a full-time chef to pursue his beer brewing ambitions. In addition to Band of Bohemia, his seasonal culinary brews in 22 ounce bottles can be found on the menus at Alinea, Next Restaurant and Boeufhaus. They're also on the shelves at local retailers Beermiscuous, Bottles and Cans and Perman Wine Selections. At Band of Bohemia, guests may order a flight of five of the beers on tap.
Guests may experience Band of Bohemia's seasonal menus in so many ways. They may check out a small menu of bar food such as smoked spiced kettle nuts and gourmet sandwiches. Brunch is served on weekends. For dinner, diners may order a la carte entrees like crispy skin salmon, grilled duck breast and dry-aged local beer. Or they may go for the tasting menu, which is six courses for $65. Wine or beer pairings are optional.
