Adoro Fusion Kitchen + Bar - Chicago
Chicago loves Mexican restaurants, and we have a lot of them; Adoro Fusion Kitchen + Bar is one of the newest. Though many Mexican restaurants in Chicago serve the fairly traditional -- and undeniably delicious -- Mexican standards, Adoro takes the more adventurous step of modifying some of the classic recipes in new and original ways.
The Infatuation reports, "Expect Mexican dishes with twists at Adoro, a new restaurant in Humboldt Park. The menu features an array of tacos, enchiladas, plus steak and seafood platters. And as a bonus, they’re open for lunch and have a dog-friendly patio."
The menu at Adoro offers dishes of somewhat greater variety and sophistication than this brief "review' suggests. The Pizza Mexicana, for instance, is a tantalizing combination of refried beans, mozzarella cheese, marinated onions, avocado, arugula, and chipotle aioli for an Italian classic with Mexican touches. The salmon is marinated in chili sauce and served with mashed plantains, avocado salsa and roasted onions. Other less usual options are the salads, many of which will suit vegetarians and perhaps even vegans. Quinoa salad has black beans, roasted corn, fresh cheese, tomato, red onion, cucumber, and sesame oil, but for those who like a little animal protein with their veggies, you can add steak, chicken and/or shrimp. You can also opt for those meatier additions with the always popular taco salad.
Another menu item you probably won't find in the traditional Mexican restaurant, but that you will find at Adoro, are some tasty mixed drinks. You can get the Margarita flavored with one of four fruit syrups: limon spicy with lime and lemon, jalapeno, and tequila blanco; strawberry, with lime and tequila blanco; as well as mango or passionfruit, also with lime and tequila blanco. These fruitier flavors pair well with sometimes piquant Mexican cuisine.
If your idea of a Mexican restaurant is a hole in the wall with plastic chairs and tablecloths, Adoro Fusion Kitchen + Bar will be a wake up call to all the ways Mexican food can be brought up a level or two.
