Dos Urban Cantina

Happy hour occurs every Wednesday at this Mexican-focused eatery in Logan Square. That's an ideal way to sample the seasonal menu at this highly praised destination that's been dubbed “the most important Mexican restaurant since Topolobampo” by Chicago Tribune restaurant critic Phil Vettel.

Katherine Anne Confections

Chicago chocolatier Katherine Duncan uses local cream, organic sugar, local fruits and herbs to make hand-dipped truffles, soft honey caramels, and pillowy artisanal marshmallows. She also teaches classes for groups.

Bang Bang Pie Shop

The Logan Square bakery specializes in pies with all fresh and all natural ingredients. The pies are made daily and are available whole or by the slice. Bang Bang also cranks out fresh biscuits daily, and there's a biscuit topping bar to accompany: black pepper honey butter, blueberry lavender jam, strawberry butter and chive butter are some of the flavors.

Giant

Giant is exactly the sort of restaurant you'd expect to find in Logan Square. Its interior makes as much of a statement as the food, featuring lots of rustic, reclaimed furnishings that are purposefully mismatched.

Whirlaway

The Whirlaway lounge has been providing Logan Square with a comfortable and social drinking establishment for over 27 years. Purchased by the Jaimes family in 1980, the Whirlaway has been family owned and run ever since. Rumor has it that the original owner placed a bet on a horse that was not favored to win. This horse would later become a triple crown winner. With his earnings the bar was built and named after the horse; Whirlaway.
