Whirlaway

The Whirlaway lounge has been providing Logan Square with a comfortable and social drinking establishment for over 27 years. Purchased by the Jaimes family in 1980, the Whirlaway has been family owned and run ever since. Rumor has it that the original owner placed a bet on a horse that was not favored to win. This horse would later become a triple crown winner. With his earnings the bar was built and named after the horse; Whirlaway.

Katherine Anne Confections

Chicago chocolatier Katherine Duncan uses local cream, organic sugar, local fruits and herbs to make hand-dipped truffles, soft honey caramels, and pillowy artisanal marshmallows. She also teaches classes for groups.

Giant

Giant is exactly the sort of restaurant you'd expect to find in Logan Square. Its interior makes as much of a statement as the food, featuring lots of rustic, reclaimed furnishings that are purposefully mismatched.

Osteria Langhe

Open seven nights a week, Monday is especially busy at this Italian-inspired eatery located in one of Logan Square's most popular dining districts (You'll find Dos Urban Cantina, Giant and Scofflaw nearby). Opened in 1911, the family-owned Roeser's still handcrafts baked goods with Old World care. Check out their custom cakes, wedding cakes, tortes, cookies, the line of low-glycemic treats, and the adjoining Roeser's Party Palace offering party favors and decorations.

From the folks behind Sultan's Market comes this palatial Middle Eastern restaurant and bar. Masada spans multiple floors and dining rooms to give Logan Square a glamorous taste of Middle Eastern dining and drinking.

Boiler Room

Logan Square got another hip new joint in July 2010, serving a small menu of pizza slices and whole pies, craft beers and Jameson whiskey on draft. Specialty cocktails are also worth a try, like the 1988, rum chata, espresso vodka and Absolut vanilla served up with a side of Cinnamon Toast Crunch. Lighting, tables and doors are made from reclaimed materials.

The Logan Square bakery specializes in pies with all fresh and all natural ingredients. The pies are made daily and are available whole or by the slice. Bang Bang also cranks out fresh biscuits daily, and there's a biscuit topping bar to accompany: black pepper honey butter, blueberry lavender jam, strawberry butter and chive butter are some of the flavors.
