Weekly Planner: Summer Seafood Festival, Mimosa Kits, National Oyster Day and More

Summer Seafood Festival at Big Jones

For its second year, Big Jones is bringing back its successful Summer Seafood Festival. Running now through Labor Day, the Andersonville restaurant is filling out its menu with a roster of nautical specials to celebrate the season. Paired with seasonal local produce, this month’s offerings include dishes like shrimp burgers, oyster po’ boys, seafood salads, pastas, fried seafood, crawfish pies and lots more.

Mimosa Kits at Bar Takito

After recently rolling out Sunday brunch, Bar Takito is amping things up with a brand new mimosa kit. Ideal for larger parties or those who just like to get more interactive with their cocktails, the kits consist of a 750ml bottle of Cielo Prosecco and freshly made strawberry, guava and orange purees for optimal customization. Altogether, it’s just $15 per kit. This is in addition to other brunch cocktail options like the Takito’s Maria made with house Bloody Mary mix, aji peanut sauce, lemongrass, lemon juice, spicy citric salt rim, sesame seeds and a cilantro sprig. Brunch is served Sundays from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.

Pink Party on the Patio at Formento’s

There’s more rosé to be had this week, this time at a patio patio at Formento’s. The pink-themed event, taking place August 3, encourages attendees to come clad in their best pink attire and revel in an al fresco evening of rosé Champagne and Smoke Tree Rosé wine. There will also be bites and themed cocktails with Belvedere vodka, with proceeds from the event going towards the Greater Chicago Food Depository. The event runs from 6:30 p.m. until 9:30 p.m., with limited tickets and VIP packages available here.
