SteakBar Launches Happy Hour

The latest steak spot to hop on the happy hour bandwagon is SteakBar in Old Town. The stylish, upbeat haunt fits the happy hour mold especially well, too, considering its emphasis on the bar/club aspect. Plus, with two different time windows to try it out, there’s plenty of opportunity to cash in on the bargains. Happy hour takes place Tuesday through Thursday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with $4 beers and $5 mixed drinks, followed by “reverse happy hour” from 9:00 p.m. onwards on Fridays and Saturdays. 

Monday Griddle Burgers at Bite Cafe

You know what pairs perfectly with the Empty Bottle’s Free Monday live music? Griddle burgers, of course. The Bottle’s adjoining neo-diner, Bite Cafe, fits the bill nicely with its Monday night burger special, wherein these griddled beauties come with special sauce, shredded lettuce and American cheese. The best part? It only costs $5. 



Sweetest Day at Chez Moi

In case you simply can not wait until February 14 to celebrate a romantic holiday, Sweetest Day should tide you over for now. The October occasion is an apt excuse to indulge in romantic shared dinners around town, like at Chez Moi, which is serving a special prix fixe menu for two October 20 through October 22. At $150 per couple, the three-course menu comes with a bottle of sparkling wine and include pumpkin soup in a pumpkin (served with two bowls), surf and turf of beef tenderloin with bordelaise and lobster tail and a “bleeding heart” chocolate cake for dessert. Reservations are encouraged.  

Liquid Lunch at Bar Takito

Kudos to Bar Takito for encouraging day-drinking, with its new “liquid lunch” promo. The West Loop hot spot bolsters the midday meal with a weekday lunch special that includes two tacos, chips and salsa, black beans and a classic margarita, all for just $15. Taco options include coffee-braised beef barbacoa, chicken pozole and skirt steak in a popcorn tortilla (!) with red chimichurri, purple potatoes and truffled avocado pine nut puree.
