Weekly Planner: Das Bueno Oktoberfest, Rosh Hashanah

Das Bueno Oktoberfest at Cruz Blanca

Oktoberfest isn’t only for German places. Case in point, Cruz Blanca Brewery and Taquería is back with its second-annual Das Bueno Oktoberfest shindig on September 23. The fiesta is a mashup of both German and Mexican cultures, featuring music, beer and food from noon until 4:00 p.m. The highlight: bratwurst tacos, which are really the best of both worlds. Since beer is such an integral part of Oktoberfest, Cruz Blanca is celebrating appropriately with Oktoberfest Vienna Lager, Das Bueno Doppelbock, Bad Burro Dry-Hopped Lager, CDMX German Pilsner, and Gringo Honeymoon Hibiscus Lager. In addition to the tacos, there will also be beer pretzels and the regular taqueria menu. For entertainment, a local Mexican-Polka band will be in attendance, and a stein-holding contest will be held for attendees. Tickets are $20 to attend and include a custom-branded beer stein with one free fill of 33-oz. beer. Snag yours here

Rosh Hashanah Menu at Bistronomic

It’s time once again for Rosh Hashanah, a surefire harbinger that the holiday season is just around the corner. Each year, Bistronomic is one of the best and most reliable places to celebrate, with a special holiday menu on-hand from September 20 through September 22. To celebrate the Jewish holiday, the Gold Coast staple is offering a three-course prix fixe menu for dinner at $39 per person. For the first course, options include cured salmon with radishes, country mustard and leek potato salad; falls squash veloute with pomegranate seeds, house-cured duck confit and root vegetables; and beet and carrot salad with apricots, sunflower seeds and spiced Greek yogurt. Next, entree options include prime beef short ribs with eggplant caviar, ratatouille, Nicoise olives and preserved lemon; the fish of the day with cauliflower hummus, pine nuts, crispy capers and tomato vinaigrette; and a fall vegetable medley with cauliflower, glazed root vegetables and Brussels sprouts. Then it’s dessert, with choices including a pear challah bread pudding with maple syrup-pear sauce and apple crepes with rosemary, vanilla and dates.

Peruvian and Chilean Crossover Soiree at Tanta

To send off summer in style, Tanta is hosting a special South American soiree combining crossover flavors from both Peru and Chile. Taking place September 27 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m., the event will feature an array of Peruvian street foods and Chilean wines on the rooftop terrace. Chefs will also be doling out Tanta signatures like cebiches, anticuchos, sanguchitos and empanadas. Tickets are $75 per person and can be purchased here
