Weekend Planner, Thanksgiving Edition

Wish Ceres' Table a Happy Anniversary

Ceres' Table turns four this weekend, and like any good fourth birthday, they're celebrating with complimentary cocktails. Come in for dinner November 29 or November 30 and enjoy a free anniversary cocktail with your meal. Additionally, guests are encouraged to post their favorite Ceres' Table dishes of the past four years on the restaurant's Facebook page or email them to the restaurant. The chef will then choose his favorites of the bunch to recreate for weekend specials.

Sportman's Club Pop-up at Trenchermen

Heiser Hospitality just keeps growing and growing. Fresh off their latest endeavor, Lone Wolf, the dynamic duo of Matt Eisler and Kevin Heisner move forward with their next project, a neighborhood tavern in Ukrainian Village called Sportman's Club. In preparation for their opening, the team is popping up at another one of their Heiser operations, Trenchermen, for a Sportman's Club pop-up and preview on Monday, December 2. Classic-inspired, spirit-centric cocktails take the stage at the pop-up, indicative of the forthcoming beverage program at Sportman's Club. Expect beverages such as The Sportsman with bourbon, amaro, tart cherry, angostura bitters, and absinthe; and the Grizzly King laced with pisco, amaro, Solera sherry, lemon, and cinnamon-chicory. Blended amaros will also be on draft for the night, courtesy of Sportman's Club's amaro machine (!). In honor of the occasion and Sportman's Club's lodge-like motif, Trenchermen's Pat Sheerin has designed game-focused specials to accompany. The pop-up takes place from 8:00 p.m. until 11:00 p.m. Admission is free.

Warm Up With Hot Chocolate at Firecakes

The best medicine for a frigid fall day is a soothing cup of hot chocolate. Especially when said chocolate is as classy and decadent as the Parisian-style cocoa being poured at Firecakes, the River North Mecca of all things sweet and comforting. The made-to-order hot chocolate features Belgian bittersweet chocolate, organic milk, vanilla, cane sugar, and housemade Tahitian vanilla bean marshmallows. When it comes to doughnut pairings, hot chocolate is the new coffee.
