National Tequila Day

National Tequila Day, aka the agave equivalent of Christmas, is this Friday, July 24. Maximize your imbibing with some tequila specials around town to commemorate the day. 

más is offering a special tequila flight for $20, featuring Tromba Blanco, Tromba Resposado, and Tromba Añejo. The flight also comes with a sangrita chaser.

In Portage Park, Community Tavern is serving up a special cocktail called "Passion Me By," made in collaboration with Jacyara de Oliveira of Sportsman's Club. It contains Tequila Ocho, Mandarine Napoleon Liqueur, passion fruit, tangy lime, freshly brewed green tea, and angostura bitters.

At Adamus, another special cocktail for the holiday will be on offer. This one is the Margarita de Pepino for $7. It's made with fresh cucumbers, Orangine, Casa Noble Crystal, and fresh lime.

If shots are more your tequila style, Cactus Bar and Grill is the spot for you, offering $5 shots of Don Julio for the holiday. Patrons visiting after 5:00 p.m. may also enjoy $5 select appetizers, such as guacamole, fried pickle chips, and tater tots.

Rosé on the Roof at Fountainhead

In other alcohol news, Fountainhead is hosting a rosé event on its rooftop this weekend. The second annual Rosé on the Roof is a wine tasting benefiting the national non-profit, Bright Pink, an organization focused on preventing and detecting breast and ovarian cancer in young women. The fete is a three-four wine tasting opportunity for a good cause, featuring 12 different wines along with beers and ciders to sample. It runs from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. and tickets are $30. Purchase here

Gold Medal Concrete at Shake Shack

In honor of the Special Olympics of Chicago's birthday, Shake Shack is featuring a special "Gold Medal Concrete" this week and weekend through July 26. The festive, lustrous dessert, a riff on Shake Shack's blended frozen custard with toppings, features a base of creamy vanilla frozen custard. It's infused with Glazed & Infused vanilla bean donuts and rainbow sprinkles.
