Mott St Celebrates Sketch Comedy
Dining and comedy don't necessarily dovetail very often, but Mott St is poised to embrace its funny side on September 28 as an homage to sketch comedy from The Second City and dance from Hubbard Street Dance. Mott St's collaboration serves to celebrate dance through various mediums of creative expression, in honor of the new fall series taking place from October 16 through 19 at the Harris Theater. For this special event at Mott St, the restaurant will serve bites such as roasted pork baos, skewers, and Fernet-soaked s'mores, along with new fall cocktails. Pierogies at Slippery Slope
Insatiable dancing requires proper carb fuel. Like pierogies for instance. Fortunately, Slippery Slope has partnered with The Pierogi Wagon to bolster Logan Square's dancing crowd on weekends, wherein the pierogi truck takes over the food window with a slew of doughy delights. Additionally, the boisterous bar has also rolled out a bevy of new bottled cocktails, such as Fuzzy Wuzzy (vodka, passion fruit, raspberry syrup, lime), Blackberry Margarita, Johnny Utah (rye, Averna, lemon, angostura bitters), and Tiger Claw (bonded bourbon, ginger syrup, allspice, lime, angostura).

Bourbon Brunch

Brunch is better when soaked in bourbon. For this, head to Fountainhead on September 28 to partake in their three-course family-style bourbon brunch with special guest Michael Veach. Herewith, author and historian Veach will delve into the history of bourbon, as executive chef Cleetus Friedman crafts a spread of dishes designed to pair with bourbons. Dishes include honey-roasted fennel, zucchini, squash, cheddar frittata, and caramelized onion jam paired with Fountainhead's Arlington featuring Bulleit bourbon; heirloom tomato panzanella with capers, chevre, and fried egg matched with fig-infused Few bourbon; and whiskey-bacon waffles with fried chicken thighs and maple syrup-sausage gravy served with Fountainhead Single Barrel 10yr Henry McKenna bottled in bond. Del Frisco's Hosts Buehler Family Wines Dinner

Before you get your fill of bourbon at brunch, fill up on a wine-paired dinner at Del Frisco's Double Eagle Steak House. The Gold Coast steakhouse plays host to Helen Buehler of Buehler Family Wines on Friday, September 26, wherein a four-course wine dinner features a smorgasbord of dishes and wines from the St. Helena winery. The event kicks off with a passed rose wine reception at 6:30 p.m., followed by a tasting and dinner at 7:00 p.m. Dishes include salmon mousse with lemon and herbed kettle chips; arancini with roasted corn, aged Parmesan, and charred tomato; braciole with grilled eggplant, Asiago, creamy polenta, and bolognese; and a local cheese plate with candied pecans, black currant jam, and crostini.
