Weekend Planner: Memorial Day Edition

Bartenders With Benefits

The hospitality industry in Chicago is all about the camaraderie. Hence, guest bartenders are a frequent occurrence. One upcoming example to put on your radar is the Bartenders with Benefits event taking place May 24 at Barrelhouse Flat. Featuring guest bartender Brian Sturgulewski of The Dogma Group and Fulton Market Kitchen, Bartenders with Benefits will feature three specialty cocktails that send a portion of proceeds to The West Suburban Special Recreation Association. It all goes down at 9:00 p.m., when Sturgulewski will be shaking up his drinks in the second-floor lounge area.

Last Call for Blue Door Farm Stand on Armitage

May 30 is your last chance to dine at Blue Door Farm Stand in its current, original location on Armitage Avenue. Make the most of it by maximizing your time there before it moves around the corner to 2010 North Halsted Street. Having outgrown their current space, it's time to move to bigger digs, with a two-story space that practically doubles the size. In the meantime, hit up the original locale while you can to get your fix of Brussels and kale salad, fig and arugula grilled cheese, and other staples.

Check Out Headquarters' New Patio

Add another patio to your must-linger list this weekend, with the Memorial Day opening of Headquarters Beercade's al fresco area. The River North location is adding an ample outdoor seating area with room for 54. The space is quite unique too, designed to replicate a chic office with filing cabinets repurposed into flower holders. The beercade promises a menu filled with new surprise cocktails once the patio opens as well.
