Weekend Planner: Live Vinyl DJs at The Brass Monkey, National Ice Cream Day at Nonna's, Maple & Ash Grilling Pop-up

Live Vinyl at The Brass Monkey

Here's some groovy news from The Brass Monkey: the '70's-inspired restaurant in the West Loop is now showcasing live vinyl DJs from its custom glass and laser cut brass DJ booth on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. This means in addition to the funky retro-chic vibe of the restaurant, coupled with the nostalgic Americana food and drink, guests can swoon to classic '70's tunes spun live from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursdays and from 10:00 p.m. until close on Fridays and Saturdays. Additionally, bar bites will be available for $7 on Thursdays and Fridays from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.

National Ice Cream Day at Nonna's

What a happy coincidence that Nonna's started offering their ice cream by the pint just in time for National Ice Cream Day on July 19. To celebrate the apt holiday, the West Loop Italian spot is offering one free scoop of their new ice cream to guests, available until supplies run out. Flavors include raspberry swirl, salted caramel, Nutella, and butter pecan. Definitely worth screaming about.

Maple & Ash Grilling Pop-up

In anticipation of the Gold Coast's forthcoming steakhouse, Maple & Ash, the restaurant is hosting its second grilling pop-up event this weekend on July 18. From 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. outside the restaurant entrance on Maple Street, executive chef David Ochs will provide an advanced look and taste of the restaurant with the help of Jared Batson from The Nomad Food Company, which features a mobile wood-burning oven and grill. Get hungry for complimentary tastes of the wood-fired fare, from grilled oysters to meatballs.
