Weekend Planner: Fourth of July Edition

Independence Day Menu and Specials at Bistronomic

Since July contains Independence Day holidays for more than one country, Bistronomic's French-born chef Martial Noguier is using it as an opportunity to double up on celebrations with a special three-course prix fixe available July 1 through July 16 that honors both the American Fourth of July and French Bastille Day. Born and Paris and, Noguier is now an American citizen and the owner/chef of Bistronomic in the Gold Coast, making him ideally suited to combine the patriotic holidays. As a nod to the flour tax that went into effect during the French Revolution, the chef is serving a special gluten-free menu this month priced at $35.65 per person. Additionally, Bistronomic is featuring a series of specials through July 16, starting with American foods earlier in July before transitioning to French staples. These include a club sandwich with red, white and blue baked Alaska on July 1 and July 2, a burger with housemade country pate on July 3, a heritage pork chop with barbecue sauce and summer corn on July 5, a selection of cheeses and charcuterie July 9, and steak frites on July 13.

Holiday Specials at The Kerryman

The Kerryman is hosting a variety of specials all weekend long to commemorate the Fourth of July. This includes weekend brunch from 11:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. both July 2 and July 3, with $5 mimosas and Bloody Marys on special. The evening of July 3, DJ RUKI will be spinning tunes from 10:00 p.m. until close. And on July 4, brunch will be served from 11:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.

Picnic Party at Belly Up Smokehouse & Saloon

Head to the patio at Belly Up Smokehouse & Saloon in the South Loop for a little picnic party on July 3. The barbecue restaurant couldn’t be more apropos for the all-American holiday, especially considering they’re rolling out a variety of 1776-inspired specials for the occasion. This includes $1 candied bacon, $7 Windy City sliders of pulled pork and smoked brisket, and $7 bacon-wrapped smoked Franks. The shindig takes place from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m., with additional drink deals like $4 PBR cans and an American-themed shot flight consisting of red (Bacardi Razz rum with raspberry puree and cranberry juice), white (Ciroc apple), and blue (Fords gin with blue curaçao, lime juice, and black cherry puree).

Fourth of July Brunch at The Publican

Another great spot to hit up for patriotic brunch specials this weekend is The Publican, which is featuring a bevy of grilled dishes on July 4 from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. These a la carte items include grilled zucchini muffins, BBQ tri-tip, pimento toast, soft-shell crab sandwiches, French toast with grilled peaches, jalapeno cheddar bratwursts, and more.
