Fall Menu Preview at Mercat a la Planxa

Fall is just about here — sorry — and to help ease guests into the season, Mercat a la Planxa is cooking up a menu preview dinner on September 19. Famed executive chef Jose Garces will be in town hosting the dinner, featuring four courses inspired by fall's harvest. Cocktails will accompany each course, and between bites diners will have the opportunity to interact with Garces and learn more about his seasonal sentiments. Tickets are $85 per person and reservations can be made by calling 312-765-0524. It all starts at 6:00 p.m.

Sunday Supper a la Kinmont and Spence Farm

Kinmont is taking the farm-to-table ethos a step further by partnering with local Spence Farm for a weekly Sunday supper series, showcasing the seasonal wares of the Livingston County farm in the form of a rotating weekly menu. The concept starts with folks at Spence Farm randomly selecting a myriad of ingredients to bring to Kinmont and executive chef Duncan Biddulph. The chef has no idea what's on the way when he receives the delivery on Wednesday. It's like a farm-to-table Chopped challenge. He then works to craft a cohesive four-course menu for Sunday, which costs $40 per person. You never know what you're gonna get, which is part of the fun! The prix fixe is available on Sundays alongside a limited portion of the regular dinner menu.

Scofflaw Fan Fiction

Next in Scofflaw's fan fiction series? An homage to the iconic Fern Bar, which rose to acclaim in the 1970's and perfected such libations as Freddy Fudpuckers (tequila, Galliano, orange juice, lime), Pink Squirrels (Creme de Noyeaux, Creme de Cacao, cream), Rob Roys (Bank Note Scotch, Dolin Rouge, angostura bitters), White Russians, and Long Islands. All of these timeworn staples and more will be on deck at Scofflaw September 21 from noon until 2:00 a.m. Lemon Drop and Melon Ball shots will also be on hand.
