Weekend Planner: Easter Edition

Easter at The Drake Hotel

One of the biggest dining out holidays of the year is coming up this weekend, and restaurants all over town are celebrating in different ways. One of the best destinations to beckon Easter is The Drake Hotel, the legendary downtown property where Easter festivities are taking place all day long on March 27. To start, Easter brunch takes place in the luxurious Gold Coast Ballroom, followed by a special dinner being served at the New England-inspired Cape Cod Room. For brunch, the magnificent ballroom will roll out chilled seafood stations, fresh desserts, ice sculptures, and sparkling wine aplenty to accompany jazz music from the Steve Biossat Trio. For kids, the playroom area will feature movies, balloons, caricatures, a face-painter, an egg hunt, and of course the Easter Bunny. Seatings for Easter brunch are available at 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. The cost is $109 per adult, $30 for children six and older, and free for kids five and younger. Reservations can be made by calling 312-932-4305.

Later in the day, the hotel's famed Cape Cod Room is featuring its own special Easter dinner menu, with seatings available between 3:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m.

Sardinian Easter Brunch at Spiaggia

Come Easter Sunday, Spiaggia takes the rare opportunity to get into the brunch game with a special Sardinian brunch event from 11:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. The prix fixe affair pays opulent homage to the grandiose holiday feasts celebrated on the Mediterranean island. The menu focuses on family-style and plated dishes, featuring items like asparagus and ricotta frittata; Sardinian culingones with pecorino-filled pasta and fava beans; roast lamb with artichokes; branzino with fennel, blood orange, olives, and almonds; seadas with honey and berries; and wine pairings for each course. The cost for Sardinian brunch is $65 per person.

Easter Specials at The Dawson

Keep things casual with a few a la carte Easter brunch specials at The Dawson. Things are getting deliciously springy and vivid too, which is refreshing to see. Courtesy of Shaun King, these include herb-mustard crusted lamb saddle with new potatoes, English peas, and roasted turnip; deviled egg salad sandwich with arugula pistou on a fresh croissant; poached salmon with spring chopped salad and horseradish-herb green goddess; and Maine lobster bisque with preserved lemon, honshimeji, and jicama-lobster salad. To drink, there's a special cocktail on offer called the Pink Lady, made with Letherbee Vernal gin, apple brandy, house grenadine, lemon, and egg white.

Brunch With the Easter Bunny at Tavern on Rush

Last but not least, everyone loves a good Easter Bunny brunch! Tavern on Rush once again celebrates Easter in style with a family-friendly Bunny appearance from 10:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. on March 27. Reservations are highly recommended for this annual shindig, where brunch specials include strawberry pancakes, a fried egg club, and crab cake Benedict.
