Ice Cream and Beer Social at WhirlyBall

There's nothing like a classic, old-school ice cream social to tickle the nostalgic heartstrings. It helps when there's beer involved. Not quite so nostalgic, but definitely a boon nonetheless. WhirlyBall is embracing the joyous pastime this weekend with a special "social" this Saturday, offering treats for ice cream fanatics and beer-lovers alike. The event features a pop-up ice cream and beer social complete with Salted Caramel Brownie Brown Ale, a collaboration between Ben & Jerry's and New Belgium Brewing. It starts at 7:00 p.m., and guests have the option to enjoy an adult ice cream float with the brown ale and a scoop of Ben & Jerry's limited batch flavor made with New Belgium's brown ale, salted caramel swirls, and fudge brownies. For every glass of the ale purchased, a portion of proceeds will go to Protect Our Winters, an environmental organization striving to stop climate change by mobilizing and working with the winter sports community.

Bourbon Dinner at Rockit Burger Bar

From gin to beer to bourbon, here's another boozy event to put on your weekend radar. Rockit Burger Bar is hosting a special bourbon dinner on Friday, November 6, featuring a four-course dinner with bourbon cocktail pairings. It's all part of the restaurant's ongoing "BBB" series, with this month's focal point being beer from Goose Island Beer Company and bourbon from Angel's Envy. The menu includes butter-poached shrimp with Angel's Envy beurre blanc and orange rind; turkey meatballs with Green Line lemon vinaigrette, marinated fresno peppers, and cilantro; beef slider with a rye bun, Angel's Envy maple onions, quail egg, and fries; and pork loin with Goose Island Stout apple brine, cumin roasted winter vegetables, and pickled pearl onions. There's also a dessert cocktail to cap things off. The cost for the dinner is $50 per person, available from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.
