Weekend Planner: Backyard BBQ, Beachy Macarons, Party With a Purpose

Backyard Barbecue, UrbanBelly-style

Summer is all about the backyard barbecue. The pastime is a lot more delicious when it's curated by a masterful chef such as Bill Kim. Head to UrbanBelly on June 29 between 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to partake in a very special "backyard" BBQ. Situated on the restaurant's ample back patio, Kim will be cooking up a melange of baby back ribs, Korean fried chicken, watermelon salad, and other 'cue-friendly bites. There will also be seasonal beverages, craft beer, and passion fruit lemonade. Tickets are $45 and can be purchased here.

Eat Summer With moto's Macarons

Summer dining takes a fun, exotic turn with moto's new macarons. Pastry chef Claire Crenshaw has crafted a vibrant lineup of "100 Days of Summer" coconut macarons, each one emblazoned to look like beach balls and happiness. Visit moto this season (or this weekend), eat some macarons, and pretend you're on a beach vacation.

Party With a Purpose at Mott St

Now here's a culinary class you can feel good about. Mott St is hosting a special event called "Party with a Purpose" on June 29, wherein from 2:30 p.m. until 5:00 p.m., chef Edward Kim will curate a culinary lesson to benefit GRIP Outreach For Youth. Since teaching youth in need and sustainable cooking are both near and dear to Kim's heart, the event is a no-brainer in terms of altruism and deliciousness. Attendees will be treated to an insightful cooking lesson from Kim whilst imbibing complimentary beverages, participating in a raffle, and listening to inspired stories. Tickets cost $25 per person, with a portion of sales (as well as dinner service proceeds that evening) going to GRIP.
