Vietti Winery at Osteria Langhe

Vietti Winery steps into the spotlight for an evening of wining, dining, and tasting on June 8 at Osteria Langhe. Featuring owner/winemaker Luca Currado, Vietti has long been esteemed as one of the best of the best in the Barola area. Currado in fact shares a bit of kinship with Osteria Langhe's owner Aldo Zaninotto, in that Currado mentored him in the world of Piemontese wines. The multi-tiered event comes with three different ways in which to experience Vietti, one of which takes place at 8:30 p.m. and offers guests the opportunity to dine with the winemaker via a four-course wine-paired menu. This unique experience is available for up to 12 diners, featuring dishes like cured ahi tuna, house fettucine with duck breast, prime NY strip, and summer rartelette with hazelnut gelato. Other guests can enjoy a wine tasting at the bar hosted by Currado between 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m., and Perman Wine Selections will be on hand to take orders for wine purchases if guests should opt to do so. Additionally, during dinner hours on June 8, Vietti wines will be available to order by the glass, bottle, or flight. The costs for these experiences are $195 per person for the multi-course dinner and $15 per person for the tasting at the bar (this fee will be waived for guests staying for dinner). Reservations can be made by calling the restaurant.

Lunch Specials at Pork Shoppe

Pork Shoppe recently expanded from its original Avondale digs to an even bigger second location in Andersonville. Along with a larger space and broadened menu comes weekday lunch specials, available from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. for $10.95. For that price, guests can start their meal by selecting from three brisket tacos, a brisket sandwich, a pulled pork sandwich, a pulled chicken sandwich, a tri-tip sandwich, or a pork belly pastrami sandwich. Then they can add two sides, from fries and Shoppe slaw to potato salad. For an additional $2, there's supplements like cornbread, mac & cheese, chili, creamed corn, and baked beans.

Tiki Beach Party

Nothing says "summer fun!" quite like a tiki beach party. Stanley's Kitchen and Tap embraces the tropical libations with a tiki beach party on June 12 in honor of Norman "Sailor Jerry" Collins. This rum-tastic event, which runs from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., features retro beach movies, surf music, barbecue, and of course, cocktails made with Sailor Jerry Spiced Rum. Think Mai Tais, Sailor's Ruin, Tiki Tea, and Seven Seas Breeze.

Weekday Specials at The Brass Monkey

More weekday dining specials are happening around town, these ones with a bit more Americana nostalgia thrown in for good measure. The Brass Monkey embraces its 1970's-inspired ethos with kitschy throwback specials Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday through June. These specials start with Meatloaf Mondays, with choices of barbecue pulled pork or short rib meatloaf with A1 sauce, a side of mashed potatoes and gravy, seasonal cobbler, and greens. Then it's on to TV Dinner Tuesdays, with entree options such as short rib meatloaf, fish "styx," and veggie enchiladas, each served with cherry cobbler as dessert. The Wednesday promo is called "Be Childish Wednesday," served as an homage to Julia Child. This is a three-course prix fixe menu with dishes derived from Child's 1970's cookbooks and TV shows. The menus contain terrine de porc wrapped with country ham, duck a L'Orange, and caramel flan with pecan brittle. All this for just $33 per person.
