Alaskan Salmon Dinner

Salmon-lovers, listen up. Here's a dinner you won't want to miss. On Monday, July 21, the Bristol Bay Regional Seafood Development Association, Chefs Collaborative, and Fortune Fish & Gourmet are teaming up for an Alaskan salmon dinner like no other at Ampersand inside Kinmont. Over the duration of the multi-course Bristol Bay sockeye salmon dinner, guests will have the chance to truly embrace the pristine fish. Author Paul Greenberg will also be in attendance discussing his new book, American Catch: The Fight for Our Local Seafood. The four-course fete includes dishes such as crispy salmon skin chips with creme fraiche, everything spice, and pickled onion; quick cured salmon with cucumber, blueberry, and lemon pepper; roasted salmon with Tropea onion, sour cream, and salmon roe; and elderflower Bavarois with gooseberry and fennel shortbread. Tequila Day at Moe's Cantina

To commemorate National Tequila Day on July 24, a sacred day of agave, Moe's Cantina in River North is celebrating the spirit with substantial discounts. On Thursday, the boozy bastion will be offering all of their top-shelf tequilas at 50% off. Considering Moe's is home to a wide breadth of tequila, including some seriously special spirits, this is an opportunity you won't want to sleep on.

Midsummer BBQ Cider Dinner

Nothing says "summer" quite like a good old fashioned barbecue. Or a newfangled barbecue cooked by a chef more talented than you. On July 23, chef Scott Walton will throw down with a salacious summery fete at Howells & Hood, cooking up barbecue for the restaurant's Midsummer BBQ Cider Dinner. Think of it as a comfortable backyard barbecue, but more delicious. The event takes place from 6:00 p.m. through 10:00 p.m., featuring a feast of BBQ bites and cider sips. Things start with a reception in the East Banquet Room. At 6:30 p.m., the restaurant will tap Vander Mill's Michigan Wit, at which point things really get started. Food-wise, expect appetizers and hors d'oeuvres followed by porchetta, dry-aged rib-eye, and peach Melba. While noshing and drinking, guests will have the opportunity to mingle with Walton and any of the six brewery reps in attendance. The cost is $50 per person and reservations can be made by calling 312-262-5310. 

Coppervine Fuses Food and Wine for a Special Dinner

If cider and tequila aren't for you, then make a bee line to Coppervine for their special Somerston-centric dinner on July 23. Far beyond your standard wine dinner, this one truly dovetails food and wine in that Somerston's land in Napa is used for making wine and raising livestock in tandem. This means Somerston wine and lamb will both be in attendance and in your mouth. Expect a five-course feast prepared by chef David Wang, paired with pours from Priest Ranch and Somerston labels.
