Weekday Planner: Michael Solomonov Pop-up Dinner, Oyster Happy Hour, Tango Lessons at Artango Bistro

Michael Solomonov Pops Up at Cafe Spiaggia

Now here's a pop-up dinner you don't want to miss. Michael Solomonov is a bit of a culinary demigod in Philadelphia, where he presides over restaurants like Zahav, Federal Donuts, and Abe Fisher. He's embarking on a new cookbook tour and he's starting his travels in Chicago with a pop-up cookbook dinner at Cafe Spiaggia on October 13. The event is in celebration of his book, Zahav: A World of Israeli Cooking, which Solomonov will be signing for guests in the lounge from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Afterwards, he'll progress with a four-course meal featuring dishes from the book, like hummus and pita with salatim, crispy haloumi, fried cauliflower, fluke, lamb shoulder, and labneh ice cream. Tickets for this pop-up are $75 per person, which includes wine pairings. Snag 'em here

Dollar Oysters at Seadog Sushi

The happy hour deals just keep coming. Here's another one that's bound to make you extra happy: dollar oysters at Seadog Sushi. The West Town favorite now offers $1 oysters for happy hour every weekday from 4:00 p.m. until 6:30 p.m., providing plenty of opportunity to slurp after work. The oysters hail from Prince Edward Island and come with a spicy garlic lime sauce. And in case this adds extra incentive, Seadog Sushi is BYOB.

Tango Lessons and Argentine Prix Fixe

For steak with a side of tango, head to Artango Bistro for dance lessons and prix fixe Argentine dining. In addition to a new fall prix fixe menu, which costs $40 per person and affords several choices of appetizer (e.g. ceviche, empanadas), five entree options (grilled Angus New York strip steak, paella, duck breast), and four desserts, the restaurant is now offering tango lessons each Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday night. The lessons come via Buenos Aires-born and trained Tango pros Hernan Prieto and Daniela Roig, who will be on hand to lead guests through complimentary 30-minute tango lessons. These take place at 7:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and at 8:30 p.m. Thursdays.
