Weekday Planner: Magnum Mondays, Bacon Month Kick-off, Vietnamese Pop-up

Magnum Mondays at Oyster Bah

No better way to kick off the work week than with large-format wines. At the very least, it'll help you drown your stressful sorrows. Every Monday through April, Oyster Bah's beverage director Nate Redner will be pouring a variety of large-format seafood-friendly bottles at the bar or tableside. It's a nifty opportunity for diners to try wines that are typically slightly out of reach, by granting them affordable pours. Swing by during dinner and have a sip!

Bacon Month Kickoff at Chop Shop

April, as you should know, is Bacon Month. Not only does Baconfest take place at the end of the month, but it's a month meant to celebrate all things pork. To celebrate, Baconfest has partnered with Chop Shop to host a Bacon Month kick-off event on April 5 from 7:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. at the Bucktown restaurant. It's all about the B's with this one: bacon, beats, bocce, and booze. The evening includes bacon dishes from Chop Shop, Baconfest preview items, and more. The $30 admission price entails two Goose Island beers, two cocktails, beats by DJRC, and indoor bocce from Wicker Park Bocce, with prizes for victors.
Vietnamese Pop-up Dinner at Analogue

Analogue goes Vietnamese for a night as chef Alfredo Nogueira and sous chef Dani Kaplan welcome guest chef Freddy Noinaj of The Hey-Ha Food Truck for a one-night pop-up on April 4. The event features a multi-course menu that fuses the flavors of the South with those of Vietnam. Items include pho with smoked brisket, smoked Gulf shrimp spring rolls, and Texas toast ice cream sandwiches. Beverages can be ordered a la carte, and the cost for the menu is $40 per person.
