Ice Cream Social at Antique Taco
Summer ain't over yet! Just ask Antique Taco, which is hosting its annual ice cream social on September 16. Just like good old fashioned ice cream socials of childhood yore, the free event features scoops of ice cream between 6:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. Reps from Land of Nod, Smilebooth, and Heritage Bicycles will also be in attendance to get in on the fun. And that's not all Antique Taco is up to this week. The next night, September 17, the modern taqueria is hosting a make-your-own piñata class in its upstairs Guest Room. The event, hosted by Katie Kendall, runs between 6:30 p.m. and 9:00 p.m.
Etna Wine Dinner at Ceres' Table
If Italian wines are more your styles, make sure and get to Ceres’ Table on September 16 for a regional wine dinner showcasing the grapes of Etna in Sicily. Winemaker Giuseppe Russo will be on hand to showcase his world-renowned portfolio of wines from his winery, Girolomo Russo. To match, chef Craig Degel will be serving multiple courses of regionally inspired Italian fare. Courses include baked caciovallo with pesto trapanese paired with 2014 Etna Rosato; squid ink arancini with n'duja and tomato paired with 2013 'A'Rina' Etna Rosso; grilled swordfish with a glass of 2012 'San Lorenzo' Etna Rosso; and cassatelle trapanese with ricotta, chocolate chips, and Amaro Averna. The cost to attend the dinner is $95 per person and guests can book a seat by calling Ceres' Table.
Guest Bartender Series at CH Distillery
CH Distillery & Cocktail Bar continues its monthly guest bartender series this week with a special appearance from Andrew Embry, most recently of the newly closed Browntrout. Embry takes the stick September 15 from 8:00 p.m. until midnight, when he'll be mixing up two of his very own cocktails for the bar. One drink will feature CH spirits, while the other is a wild card made with anything Embry so chooses. His drinks are the Oslo Martini made with CH Aquavit, CH Vodka, Cocchi Americano, housemade grapefruit bitters, and grapefruit twist; and the Spanish Winter featuring CH Rum, CH Amaro, Ancho Reyes Ancho Chile Liqueur, orange juice, egg white, and grated Okinawan sugar. Both drinks go for $11.
Free Fries at M Burger
September 18 may be National Cheeseburger Day, but M Burger wants to make sure you don't forget about the burger's best friend: the french fry. In a form of true altruism, the burger shop is sharing the spotlight on its holiday by offering free french fries with the purchase of any cheeseburger. Be it the Hurt Burger with spicy BBQ sauce, the Old Fashioned, or the Barnyard Burger with chicken breast, a burger, bacon, and American cheese, each one comes with complimentary sea salted fries.
