The Smoke Daddy Turns 20

It's not every barbecue restaurant that gets to be 20 years old. If they're lucky, restaurants typically have a lifespan on par with dogs. But The Smoke Daddy defies the norm as it blows out the candles on its 20th birthday this week, rightfully celebrating with three days of events and specials. The beefy progenitor of the 4-Star Restaurant Group, which has ballooned to encompass the likes of Crosby's Kitchen and Frasca Pizzeria & Wine Bar, The Smoke Daddy has been diligently cooking up brisket, pork, and all the comforting fixings on Division Street for two full decades. Things have changed over the years, most notably a massive expansion that includes a broad outdoor space with wraparound bar, but the heart and soul of The Smoke Daddy is as strong as ever.

Anniversary specials kick of May 15 with The Smoke Daddy's own rendition of "Throwback Thursday," wherein everything on the food menu is reduced to opening 1994 prices, which is about 20% less than present day. Seeing as live music has always been a big part of the experience at The Smoke Daddy, Nigel Mack and Blues Attack will provide the night's tunes. May 16 is "Friday Night Party Like it's 1994," a night resplendent with live music, featuring Pat Gemkow and Blue Lorraine. Then on May 17, the anniversary culminates with a Saturday ho-down and pig roast. This epic pig roast is an apropos way for the meat-tastic eatery to celebrate 20 years, a day-long indoor and outdoor event centered around brined suckling pigs, live bands, raffles, contests, and other specials. The pigs are available as part of a $15 buffet laden with sides such as beans, slaw, and mac & cheese.

Additionally, The Smoke Daddy will be featuring daily drink specials on Pig Punch (rum punch), PBR, and draft beers served in commemorative cups.
