Tax Day Deals to Help Ease the Financial Sting

Tax Day is a polarizing beast. The dreaded due date for tax filing means people are either excited for a rebate or depressed about having to pay the government a whole bunch of money. Either way, we all win when it means restaurants and bars are doling out discounted specials to help ease the burn of tax burden. Here are some specials to keep in mind for Tax Day on April 15.

Smoke Daddy
Smoke Daddy

Ease the sting of your taxes with a refund at all 4-Star Restaurants establishments on April 15. Diners who make reservations on Tax Day at any of the properties, which includes Smoke Daddy, Dunlay’s, Remington’s, and Frasca Pizzeria and Wine Bar, will receive a tax-free meal. The incentive is available all day and night.

If sugar makes you feel better, than head to any location of Vanille for a Tax Day treat. The French-inspired patisserie is offering chocolate-covered macarons for $1 on April 15. Options include the classic vanilla mcaron or a raspberry macaron dipped in white chocolate.

At Bar Toma, customers can enjoy half-off draft beers and tequila shots (both of which you may badly need after filing your taxes). The promo is available all day Monday, April 18, so you have the weekend to get your sobs out.

All weekend long, BIG Bar gets quirky with some special menu items priced at $10.40. The special menu pays homage to the 1040 tax form, in case you mercifully are not familiar. Items on the menu include the BIG Burger, a Chicago-style foot-long hot dog, and chips and guacamole. Comfort food will be your friend.

Drown your sorrows (or raise a glass to your refund) with Barleywine at Mott St on Tax Day. The West Town restaurant is partnering with Logan Square’s newly opened Hopewell Brewing Company for a Burger Week takeover April 12 through April 17. This includes a special Tax Day promo on April 15 called the Barleywine Launch Nightmarket Spectacular. The late-night event runs from midnight until 2:00 a.m., featuring samples of Hopewell’s barleywine and nightmarket fare like ramen shrimp chips, army stew, and pig trotters.

Another place borrowing inspiration from the 1040 form is GreenRiver, which is serving up several cocktail specials priced at $10.40 on Monday, April 18, from 11:30 a.m. until 7:30 p.m. Cocktails include the Governor of Illinois (Jamaican rum, Redbreast 12 Yr. single pot still Irish whiskey, port wine, raspberry, lime, Orinoco bitters), The Alderman (Wild Turkey 101 Proof Rye Whiskey, Teeling Small Batch blended Irish whiskey, Pedro Ximenez sherry, Averna Amaro, coffee, black walnut, lemon, sesame, and Decanter bitters), and the Cullerton Street (Nikka Coffey Grain Japanese whisky, Pineau des Charentes, curry, barley, verjus blanc, and Fukujinzuke).

Between now and April 15, Roti Modern Mediterranean is taking mercy on your wallets by taking 10% off all catering orders over $100. Whether for professional or personal gatherings, catering from this fine-casual eatery does the body good, especially when it’s well-priced like this. To order, call 877-664-7684 and mention “tax relief” or order online and include “tax relief” in the special instructions.
