St. Patrick's Day Dining and Drinking Guide 2018

St. Patrick’s Day is coming up fast, which means it’s time to start plotting all your eating and drinking plans to maximize your corned beef intake. From full-blown celebrations to special menus, here’s where to celebrate in style in Chicago restaurants this year.

The Hampton Social

Saint Lou’s Assembly: The massive, crowd-pleasing patio at Saint Lou’s Assembly is opening for the holiday on March 17, featuring a slew of food and drink specials in honor of the festive holiday. These include a Revolution Brewing’s Paddy Wagon draft and Jameson Irish whiskey shot combo for $6, and special dishes like a traditional Irish breakfast of baked beans, fried eggs, housemade blood pudding, toast and grilled tomatoes. Guests also have the fun opportunity to win their own “pot of gold,” which is really just a sweet swag bag of goodies. Specials are on deck all day long.

State and Lake Chicago Tavern: Conveniently located just a couple blocks from the Chicago River, where the famous river dyeing takes place, State and Lake is an easy stopover for post-festivities snacks and sips. Food and drink specials will be served all day long, starting as early as 8:00 a.m. These include Green Bud Light cans, Jameson shots, Guinness cans, Reuben sandwiches and lamb and Guinness stew with potatoes, carrots and barley.

The Hampton Social: Get your Instagram accounts ready, because the most photogenic St. Pat’s special is being poured at The Hampton Social this year. For the holiday, the restaurant and bar will offer a special green version of its famed “frosé” cocktail, available all day March 16 and March 17 at both the River North original and the Burr Ridge offshoot. It’s made with peach puree, rosé wine and Tito’s Vodka, garnished with peach sugar and a fresh mint leaf.

Easy Bar: If ever there was a day to partake in happy hour, it’s St. Patrick’s Day, a holiday synonymous with all-day drinking. Easy Bar makes it, well, easy to get into the spirit with early hours and happy hour from 3:00 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. on March 17. During this window, guests can enjoy $5 Bloody Marys, $5 Moscow Mules and $10 Irish Car Bombs.

Cantina Laredo: It’s a taste of Ireland by way of Mexico at Cantina Laredo, which is hosting a special St. Patrick’s Day shindig on March 17 from 11:30 a.m. until 11:00 p.m., complete with green beer and dancing. It all starts with brunch and lunch, which blends modern Mexican dishes with $5 pints of green Mexican beer and Irish tunes courtesy of DJ Matt Rochford in the upstairs lounge from noon until 9:00 p.m.
