Storefront Company's executive chef Bryan Moscatello has a great thing going with the Bucktown restaurant's ambitious new dining program. The Discovery Dinner Series, which started in late 2012, showcases local and boutique purveyors, and he's done a great job introducing diners to some of the most prolific ones in the area. During each event, which is kept to an intimate group less than 20, guests get to actually meet the purveyors, from local farmers behind the ingredients used in Storefront's standout dishes to those repping under-the-radar, small-batch spirits. Tickets are $79 per guest—which includes wine/beverage pairings—and must be reserved in advance by calling the restaurant.

Here's the schedule of what to expect this spring:

  • Tuesday, April 30 –Double Cross Vodka: Indulge and imbibe in an evening of modern farm cuisine while learning about the craftwork of this seven times distilled Slovakian Wheat vodka with expert Mike O’Connor.

  • Tuesday, May 14 – Goose Island Beer Co. Vintage Collection: Join Sarah Busen and Susan Wolcott in exploring Chicago’s own Goose Island Brewing’s five vintage brands, including the new Bourbon County Stout.

  • Tuesday, May 28 – 32 Via Dei Birrai: The restaurant hosts an evening of international exploration as guests enjoy dinner paired with a line of newly imported Italian beers, co-hosted by Importers Alberto Minardi, Zack Pass and Miguel Silva. Diners will be amongst the first in the country to taste this special line of Italian craft brews.
