Preview Mindy Segal's Bakery

Mindy Segal's forthcoming Logan Square bakery is the biggest thing to happen to baked goods in Chicago since locals realized doughnuts were queue-worthy. When an award-winning, nationally recognized pastry chef throws her hat in the bakery ring, it's a big deal. While Segal has long offered cookies, brownies, and other baked goods from a small pastry counter at HotChocolate, her pending HotChocolate Bakery & Cafe spin-off not only hones in on pastries, but perfects the template. The bakery is still a little ways out, pegged to debut this summer, but ravenous Segal fans can get an early taste with a preview on Friday, February 14. That's right, you can stock up on pies, cakes, brittles, and cookies for Valentine's Day!

The Valentine's Day takeaway menu will be available at HotChocolate starting at 10:00 a.m. until supplies are gone. If the preview menu is any indication, Chicago will soon have a new go-to destination for coffee cake, pies, and cookies. The menu is as follows:

Pecan praline cheesecake coffee cake for two - $10

Pink Lady apple caramel pie - $15

Banana butterscotch cream pie - $16

Chocolate buttermilk Tcho chocolate mousse "crumb cake" - $26

Framboise red velvet cake - $24

Chocolate nib and milk chocolate mousse pie - $18

Trio of brittles (toffee and smoked almond, honeycomb and hazelnut, beernut) - $25

Cookie set (passion fruit caramel and brown butter, coffee and gianduja, vanilla malted) - $12

Cookie set two (hot fudge and smoked almond rugelach, cocoa nib sable, milk chocolate thumbprints) - $12

Hot chocolate blends (medium, dark, Mexican, peppermint; with two marshmallows and two cinnamon red hot marshmallows) - $12.50

Rosemary and sea salt focaccia petite trays - $8

Rye sourdough bowl - $5
