New Patios Are Better Late Than Never

With Labor Day looming, back-to-school season in full force, and the fleeting heat dissipating, it might seem like summer is over, right? WRONG. To help assuage our seasonal woes, two restaurants are opening up late-season patios, proving that some things are better late than never.

(Soon you'll be able to eat this on Municipal's new patio)

Dim sum just tastes better al fresco. It's a fact. That's why you'll want to make a bee line to Yum Cha Dim Sum Parlor to take advantage of their new patio. Situated in the unfairly gorgeous Lakeshore East enclave, the restaurant setting is lustrous enough as is, let alone when you allow diners to dine outdoors and bask in the urban glitz. Perch yourself on the sprawling, serene patio and dig into shrimp dumplings, BBQ pork buns, oxtail potstickers, wok-braised octopus, foie gras egg tarts, and lots more.

Another new patio is on its way to River North come early September. Because let's be honest, a crisp fall breeze is more enjoyable than humid, sweaty summer air. Said patio can soon be found at Municipal Bar + Dining Co., where a sprawling outdoor space boasts flat-screen televisions, comfy seating, and a killer sound system. With seating for up to 85 guests, the patio will feature Municipal's full dining menu of mod American bar fare curated by chef Guillermo Tellez, including a roasted prime rib French dip, crab cakes, and honey BBQ roasted pork, among others. Not to mention the libations, which run the gamut from craft beers and wines to specialty house cocktails crafted by the Tippling Brothers. VIP bottle service is also available. Patio hours will be Monday-Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until 12:00 a.m. and Friday through Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 a.m.
