Floriole Cafe & Bakery Debuts Pizza Nights

Just when you thought Floriole Cafe & Bakery couldn't get any better, they begin making pizza and take one step closer to usurping my life. That's right, the city's best spot for croissants, tarts, brownies, and so much more is taking on pizza, offering pizza dinners on Friday and Saturday nights starting April 26. At this point, a fitting subtitle for Floriole would be "Land of Matt's Addictions."

It makes sense that Floriole would tackle pizza, considering good crust is what makes good pizza, and the folks at Floriole are crust whisperers. Bakers treat the crust like they treat their top-notch breads, mixing the dough a day in advance to allow for a slow, flavor-building fermentation. The dough is shaped by hand into 14-inch pies, baked until nice and chewy, and flecked with air bubbles. Toppings change regularly based on market produce availability.

Also available on pizza nights are mixed greens with shallot vinaigrette, composed vegetable salads, and of course, plenty of Floriole's desserts. Beer and wine, pizza's best friends, are also available. Reservations are accepted (call 773-883-1313), but drop-ins are welcome. Pizzas can also be ordered to-go.

Pizzas are served from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and cost $18 to $24 each.
