After undergoing extensive renovations, River North's groundbreaking entertainment, nightlife, and dining and drinking destination is ready for its relaunch. Rockit Bar & Grill opened anew over the weekend, introducing River North to an entirely new look and feel, not to mention an overhauled food program by Kevin Hickey and Amanda Downing. Together, the duo tag-teamed a thorough menu refresh, which includes an alluring new brunch program. In line with Rockit's focus on neo takes on classic American flavors, Rockit's sprawling brunch menu features a bit of something for everyone. There's a breakfast pantry section containing ham and cheese fries, buttered peas, and hash browns with white cheddar dust. Entrees span the spectrum of chorizo-packed breakfast burritos and steak 'n' egg sandwiches to tuna salad toast and wild mushroom-stuffed French toast with shiitake cream. There's also fried chicken sandwiches and a slew of burgers. To drink, get a Bloody Mary, a mimosa kit, or try a refreshing Gypsy Django with vodka, Combier liqueur, d'Orange, lime juice, simple syrup, cucumber, and San Pellegrino. You can also drink your dessert in the form of a coffee float or a hazelnut malt.

In other brunch news involving restaurants with the word "grill" in their name, Unite Urban Grill has extended weekend brunch service to include the oft-overlooked Saturdays. Now West Towners and those who love them can get their cozy fix all weekend long. The neighborhood staple peddles contemporary American fare such as deep-fried brioche French toast with roasted apples, Maine lobster Benedict, pecan-smoked salmon omelets, and steak and eggs with garlic-herb béarnaise.
