Brunch Bites: Appellation and Carnivale

In this week's batch of brunch bites, Appellation launches weekend brunch and Carnivale christens its Bloody Mary bar and table-side mimosa kits.

Appellation
Appellation is a cool new brunch option in town

Your newest destination for brunch is Appellation, the adjoining wine bar and restaurant at Pastoral's newest location in Andersonville. The handiwork of chef Jesse Williams, Appellation's brunch menu is a seamless extension of the restaurant's dinner menu, which serves to highlight a sense of place and terroir via food and beverage. Seasonal, quality ingredients are the crux of the menu, comprised of dishes like eggs baked in squash-herb cream sauce, steak and eggs, warm mushroom and kale salad, and baked French toast. In addition, Pastoral is echoing Appellation's brunch menu by debuting morning counter service breakfast on weekdays. Expect coffee, tea, drinking chocolate from Katherine Anne Confections, sweet and savory pastries, housemade granola, toasts, and more.

In the West Loop, Carnivale is rounding out its Sunday brunch program with an expanded beverage portfolio that puts brunch classics in a new light. Available every Sunday from 10:30 a.m. until 3:00 p.m., the restaurant is now featuring a Bloody Mary bar and table-side mimosa kits. The bar is a build-it-yourself experience featuring a wide array of garnish options inclusive of vegetables from Carnivale's rooftop garden, house-cured meats, cheeses, steak skewers, and even empanadas. For something sweet, Carnivale is now doling out table-side mimosa kits complete with three juices, berries, and cotton candy. You can order a "bucket of bubbles" for $15, a $25 mimosa kit, or a "celebration kit" for $65.
