Awesome Boozy Gifts for the Host/Hostess

The only thing better than attending fabulous neighborhood festivals and alfresco live music concerts this summer is the perfect outdoor house party. Whether it’s a BBQ, rooftop party or lobster boil, your most important task is to bring a great gift for your host.

Don’t screw it up and bring them a random bottle of wine or growler of beer. This year—to insure your invite for next year—do some advance research and find out what they really enjoy to drink. Here are some ideas:

For The Bourbon/Scotch/Whiskey Drinker:

Master Distiller Lincoln Henderson is an inaugural member of the Bourbon Hall of Fame, which means that when it comes to all things bourbon, this guy knows his stuff. That’s what prompted him to create what he’s calling “the world’s first-ever super-premium” bourbon. Each batch of the exceptionally smooth Angel’s Envy is overseen personally by Henderson, which makes it feel more special. It’s twice distilled, aged a minimum of four years in charred white oak barrels, and finished with an advanced maturation process in two different types of port cherry casks. Retails at $44.99.

When Ricky Crawford, the U.S. Brand Ambassador for The Glenlivet, confessed that the only thing he wanted on his deathbed was a tumbler full of The Glenlivet’s 12 Year, we thought he was crazy. Then we sampled the silky scotch for ourselves and understood where he was coming from. The taste is a nice balance of sweet summer fruits and spring flowers, so it’s a good end to a long, stressful day. If you bring The Glenlivet, stay until the end of the party and convince your host to share. You’ll be happy you did. Retails at $35.97.

For The Rum Drinker:

Brugal’s the No. 1 rum in the Caribbean, so we’d recommend for you to tell the host not to dare mix it in the usual tropical cocktails like daiquiris, coladas and punches. Instead, convince him or her to indulge in its natural state and drink straight! For summertime sipping, Brugal’s Añejo is certain to delight for its buttery accents. The blended rum is aged three to five years in American White Oak casks. Retails at $19.99.

For The Rosé Lover:

There’s nothing more summer-y than rosé, and Courvoisier Rosé jumps into the arena by introducing a cognac rosé. Sophisticated palates who love the deep, smoky flavors in cognac will certainly go for this lighter, fruiter version during warmer months. We loved it best when complemented by sparkling wine or just chilled neat in a short glass. Female hosts especially will love it! Retails at $24.99.

And if your host is celebrating a milestone, there’s no better way of honoring than popping a bottle of bubbly. We suggest doing it with Veuve Clicquot Rosé 2004—which was only released this summer. For hours on end, we can drink bottles and bottles of this crisp and clean spirit that never feels heavy in the heat. And if the gang’s indulging in sugary, late-night nibbles, it will go down even easier. We recently paired it ourselves with the deliciousness from Doughnut Vault. Retails at $76.99.
