Weekly Planner: Bohemian Beer Series, Crunchy Tacos, Brunch at Regards to Edith and More

Beer Series at Bohemian House

Winter is an apt time to drink beer on a constant basis, especially when it’s paired with cozy Eastern European food. Kicking off a new brew series, Bohemian House launches Sips, Hops & Eats on January 24, just in time to provide cold-weather comfort. Each leg of the three-part series (later events take place February 28 and March 28) features a different local brewery, which will pair beer with a five-course menu. First up is Two Brothers out of suburban Warrenville. The event starts with a reception at 6:00 p.m., with dinner at 6:30 p.m. The cost is $85 per person, and guests can save $10 when they purchase two or more tickets, so bring your friends! Reservations are required and can be made by calling Bohemian House.

Crunchy Tacos at Antique Taco

For as omnipresent as tacos and taquerias are in Chicago, tortillas of the crunchy variety are surprisingly hard to find. Thankfully, Antique Taco is here to save the day. One of the best taco destinations in Chicago, the modern taqueria is introducing crunchy hard-shell tacos to the mix on Tuesdays only. Available every week at all three locations (Wicker Park, Bridgeport and Revival Food Hall in the Loop), they’re a nice, comforting alternative to the soft-shell flour tortillas Antique Taco uses to enrobe the likes of mushrooms, crispy fish and pork carnitas.

Brunch at Regards to Edith

The latest restaurant to add brunch, Regards to Edith in Fulton Market has implemented weekend morning hours to its roster. Every Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m., the West Loop hot spot features upgraded takes on classic breakfast staples, with imaginative brunch cocktails to match. Dishes include olive oil pancakes with Meyer lemon marmalade, potato pierogies with garlic sausage and soft-boiled egg, fried chicken biscuits and pepper and egg sandwiches on Italian rolls. Don’t miss the pastries, especially the cast-iron cinnamon rolls and profiteroles with dark chocolate mousse.

A Taste of Italian Wines at RPM Italian

Italian wines take the spotlight at RPM Italian, fittingly. And they’re getting a grand showcase on January 23, when head sommelier Corey Drake hosts a five-course wine dinner spotlighting the country’s best producers and top vineyards. These include varietals from Angelo Gaja, Tenuta San Guido, Marchesi Antinori and others. It’s a pretty can’t-miss spectacle for oenophiles in Chicago. The cost is $165 per person, and for more information or to make reservations, visit RPM Italian’s website, or contact the special events team at rpmitalianprivateparties@leye.com.
