Sippin’ Santa’s Surf Shack at Lost Lake

Egg nog isn’t the only thing worth sipping this season, as Lost Lake brings back its beloved Sippin’ Santa’s Surf Shack for the second year in a row. Through  the rest of the month, the tiki bar is decked out like the North Pole, featuring festive decor and cocktails to match. This means tons of tinsel, twinkling lights, snowflakes and more, plus cocktail specials like “…and a Parrot in a Palm Tree,” made with tequila, mezcal, curacao, coconut syrup and lime; and “On Christmas Island,” which has three kinds of rum, ginger, passion fruit, lemon and Don’s Spices #2. But that’s not all! The Lost Lake gift shop is outfitted with plenty of limited-time holiday goodies, like Santa-inspired glassware, signed bottles of Plantation OFTD, Lost Lake multi-island plantation rum and Paul McGee private barrel A.D. Rattray Caroni 18-year, plus T-shirts an various tropical mugs. For those looking to get a little altruistic this season, Lost Lake’s Christmas tree is available for guests to make a donation to the Chicago Period Project.

It’s a Wonderful Fox Bar

Another bar in Chicago is getting into the merry spirit in its own way, as Soho House’s Fox Bar once again channels the heart and soul of Bedford Falls for “It’s a Wonderful Fox Bar.” For the third year, the cozy, boozy nook is decorated with tinsel, string lights and faux snow, with drink specials like eggnog with brown butter-washed bourbon and port. The bar also has its own Ye Olde Bar Shoppe for stocking stuffers and little gifts. To make the most of the season, Fox Bar has extended its holiday hours, opening at 4:00 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays through December.
