Weekly Planner: Lunch at NAHA, The Bristol's New Brunch, GT Surf & Turf and More

Lunch at NAHA

One of the perks of chillier weather and patios closing for the season? Lunch is back in action at NAHA! And honestly, we’ll take the NAHA burger over 90-degree temps any day. Now served every Thursday and Friday, the lunch menu brings back beloved favorites like that aforementioned burger, along with habit-forming chicken wings. There’s also a budget-friendly $25 prix fixe option, with an appetizer, entree and dessert.

New Brunch Menu at The Bristol

In brunch news, The Bristol is excited to roll out a brand new brunch menu, under the direction of its talented chef Todd Stein. Fear not, the Basque cake and cinnamon rolls aren’t going anywhere, but in addition to some menu holdovers, Stein’s amped things up with a slew of fresh additions, like sourdough mushroom toast, a fried egg BLT with cheese and duck fat fries and buttermilk pancakes with fruit compote or chocolate chips. The bourbon stone sour is a solid drink choice, made with Old Forester bourbon, Luxardo Amaretto, orange juice and an egg white. Brunch is served every Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.

Barrio Begins Brunch

There’s more brunch news to savor this week, thanks to the new addition of weekend service at Barrio, River North’s hot contemporary Mexican newcomer. In line with its lunch and dinner offerings, the massive restaurant goes all out at brunch, doling out a bevy of inventive twists on a.m. staples. For those with a sweet tooth, be sure and try the flan corn cakes with dulce de leche, or the churro French toast with dragon fruit, grilled pineapple and horchata whipped cream. Savory selections get their dues as well, with barbacoa short rib hash, chorizo omelettes, chilaquiles, adobo fried rice and biscuits and chorizo shishito gravy, to name a few. Wash things down with guava mimosas and Bloody Marias while you’re at it. Barrios’ brunch is served every Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.

GT Surf & Turf Progressive Dinners

If surf and turf is your thing, chef Giuseppe Tentori has just the thing for you. The chef of both GT Fish & Oyster and GT Prime, two River North staples specializing in surf and turf respectively, is newly offering a progressive twist on the classic pairing that entails dining at both restaurants in the same evening. His GT Surf & Turf Dinners are 11-course degustations that start at GT Fish & Oyster and end at GT Prime two blocks north. The dinners are available every Sunday through Wednesday, with five courses at each stop, plus a dessert. At the first stop, expect favorites like shrimp bruschetta, smoked salmon deviled eggs and New England clam chowder, while GT Prime will get meaty with several cuts of steak, pasta bolognese and more. The surf & turf tasting costs $100 per person, with reservations available for parties of two or four. Tickets are available here.
