Seafood Boil at Spritzburger

No better way to cap off summer than with a refreshing seafood boil. It's all going down September 14 at Spritzburger, wherein East Coast expat Dan Smith does his native shores proud with an array of shrimp, crab, crawfish, clams, mussels, Andouille sausage, corn on the cob, and potatoes. It's all served family-style, as it should be, along with cole slaw and cornbread and fresh baked pies by Gale Gand. Plus, the all-you-can-eat feast will include Midnight Moon and Catdaddy cocktails. It takes place from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on the patio, if weather cooperates, and costs $40 per person. Call 773-868-9866 to make a reservation or visit here

Umbrian Sunday Supper

This month, the themed Sunday supper menus at Azzurra hone in on Umbria, a land-locked locale renowned for its rusticity, grains, and produce, exemplified via a four-course family-style tasting menu at Wicker Park's preeminent Italian restaurant. This weekend/month's menu features sliced local soppresatta and coppa focaccia crostini, market vegetable salad, housemade pasta with pancetta, sausage and tomato, farrotto, housemade porchetta, grilled rainbow trout, and chocolate crema for dessert. The cost is $23 per person for adults, $12 for children eight to 12, and free for kids under seven. Reservations can be at Azzura.

Festiv-Ale

Craft beer tasting events are even better when proceeds go to a good cause. Festiv-Ale is back and more beneficial than ever this year, taking place September 12 at Carmichael's. The craft beer event features over 25 breweries and 800 attendees, with all proceeds going to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. A VIP reception takes place from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., followed be general admission until 11:00 p.m. Entry is $100 for VIP or $65 for regular. More info here
