Dining Chicago Brunch Bites: Sophie's and Azzurra

In this week's batch of Dining Chicago brunch bites, Sophie's launches brunch on Mother's Day and Azzurra rolls out a fruitful new brunch menu for spring.

Just in time for the biggest brunch day of the year, Sophie's is getting into the brunch game. With American classics in mind, Sophie's chef Ron Aleman has crafted a menu of sleek brunch favorites such as crab cake Benedict, steak & eggs with poblano chimichurri, cobb salads, lobster salad rolls, and farmers' market vegetable omelettes. For early spring, this means ramps, wild mushrooms, and asparagus. That same attention to invigorated classics parlays onto the beverage menu as well, in the form of rhubarb-grapefruit mimosas. Once Mother's Day comes around, Sophie's will henceforth serve brunch on Sundays from 11:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.

In Wicker Park, Azzurra bolsters its seasonal brunch menu for spring with items such as cured salmon, Nocino Italian toast, porchetta panino, spaghetti carbonara, and polenta-crusted trout. Seasonal fruits lay the framework for Azzurra's new bottomless bellinis program, wherein $14 buys guests a ceaseless onslaught of fruit-infused bubbly, the perfect celebration of warm-weather drinking.
