Brunch Bites: New Brunch Menu at Standard Market Grill and Coffee Cocktails at Trenchermen Restaurant

In this week's batch of brunch bites, a market-sourced Lincoln Park eatery rolls out a new brunch program, and an innovating restaurant implements coffee cocktails.

"This little piggy goes to market" takes on entirely new meaning when you're pigging out at Standard Market Grill, the new Lincoln Park restaurant sourcing its wares from Standard Market in Westmont. The eatery has expanded its weekend brunch menu, serving an array of eclectic, globe-hopping dishes in a fast-casual environment. Perfect for those who are fast and casual and hungover. Executive chef Brian Wright leads the charge on everything from Belgian waffles and rotating omelettes to brunch burgers, morning glory pizzas, and chicken and waffles. Drown your boozy sorrows in Standard Market Grill's fruit-infused water bar, or with some Stumptown coffee, OR if you're feeling particularly devil-may-care, splurge on a milkshake! It's the weekend. It doesn't matter.

Trenchermen restaurant is always whipping up crafty new brunch innovations, and their latest is a new coffee cocktail mixed by "minister of libations" (his title, not mine — I'm not badass enough) Tona Palomino. Served in tandem with the coffee featured as part of the restaurant's guest roaster series, the limited quantity coffeetail utilizes the same coffee in a slightly more intoxicating interpretation. For the rest of September, Trenchermen features Counter Culture's Ndarioni coffee from Kenya. Palomino combines the cold-brew coffee with cassis, Napoleon Mandarine, and mezcal, and it's available seven days a week at the bar, as well as during Saturday and Sunday brunch. Coming up next month: Metric coffee from forthcoming Cafe Transit. Stay tuned.
