Utopian Tailgate - Chicago
The restaurant group behind The Fifty/50, Roots Pizza and a growing list of neighborhood favorites has opened Utopian Tailgate in Old Town. It's in the same building as Second City, making it an ideal dining and drinking destination before and after shows at the iconic improv comedy venue.
Utopian Tailgate aims to be true to its name: The majority of the fourth-floor bar is outside and it offers guests the ultimate tailgating experience with a yearround alfresco scene. The rooftop bar is 10,000 square feet. That means that Bears fans especially can come here to catch the big games and settle in with large-format cocktails in oversized coolers and craft beer as well as elevated sports bar fare.
Menu highlights range from traveling tacos made with Flaming Hot Cheetos; a Smash burger topped with mortadella and caramelized onion; and kabobs made with swordfish belly, pork belly, shrimp, chicken thighs or hangar steak.
Games outside aim to keep guests warm, including foosball, bocce, bags, and giant board games like Connect Four and Jenga. An adult "field of dreams" features rotating experiences like bouncy houses, mechanical bull rides and Spikeball.
