Steak + Vine
Sunday brunch at this La Grange, Ill.-based steakhouse is certainly unconventional. Steak + Vine features classics, of course, such as eggs Benedict, cheesy grits and a signature burger.
It's what they've done with the rest of the menu that's caught the attention of the area's brunch crowd. At the top of the heap is Eggs in a Basket, comprised of deep-fried poached eggs served in a crispy prosciutto cup. There's also pound cake French toast, which arrives with strawberry jam and fresh whipped cream.
Yet another hit during Steak + Vine's brunch is the over-the-top offering of chicken and waffles. It's a buttermillk-battered Slagel farm chicken that's enhanced with bacon, chive, cheddar cheese and smoked jalapeno. Those who want to completely indulge in brunch may order the bottomless mimosa package for an additional $10 as long as diners purchase entrees.
Owned by hospitality veteran and lifelong La Grange resident Nick Gangas with chef Michael Wilson (Morton’s Chicago, Michael’s Key West), Steak + Vine offers a menu of prime steaks and seafood, an expansive wine list and an specialized bourbon, cocktail and local craft beer program.
