Moody Tongue - Chicago

Brewmaster Jared Rouben and Chef Jared Wentworth are the two-man team behind the “culinary brewing” philosophy at Moody Tongue, an approach that connects kitchen and brewery to create beers and foods that work together for a truly extraordinary drinking and dining experience.

Rouben approaches beer making from a chef’s perspective (he has a degree from the Culinary Institute of America as well as certification from the Siebel Institute of brewing). Wentworth’s work in the kitchen has been recognized by nine Michelin stars, and he’s worked at Chicago restaurants including Longman & Eagle and The Promontory. Together, the two Jareds have created a dining experience you won’t find anywhere else in Chicago.

So much more than a brewpub, Moody Tongue offers a casual bar area and a more formal dining room. In both, you will be able to sample beers and food crafted by two people who have an intimate knowledge of both.

For beer and food pairings, you will enjoy such innovative and delicious selections as:

• Peeled Grapefruit Pilsner, with the flavor of grapefruit sorbet that complements dishes such as grilled salmon with citrus salsa verde and the Cubano, a pressed sandwich of ham, cheese and mustard.

• Sliced Nectarine IPA with aromatics of white peach forms a beautiful pairing with saffron chicken skewers and caramelized cheesecake.

• Toasted Rice lager, with notes of baked lychee and pineapple, seems made for a marriage of flavors with dishes like Shanghai hairy crab and steamed fish.

Drinking and dining at Moody Tongue is a new kind of restaurant experience, bringing together flavors that were designed with the other in mind. If you like beer and good food, Moody Tongue brings both together for an experience that is unlike any other currently available in Chicago.
