Farmhouse

Farmhouse - Chicago

Farmhouse on Chicago’s near north side has a name that suggests local product sourcing and homey preparations, though it doesn’t begin to convey the undeniable sophistication of the food served. In 2012, a Farmhouse team member bought Brown Dog Farm, and now this over 200-acre farm in Wisconsin’s Driftless Region provides vegetables, fruits and honey to the restaurant. Those locally sourced ingredients go into downhome yet innovative dishes such as Indiana Duck Breast Schnitzel with Wisconsin Parmesan and Old World Grains Veggie Burger with poblano pepper and forest mushrooms. Farmhouse’s Wisconsin farm harkens back to the day when taverns would have a garden in back to supply food for patrons. To go with all this fresh food, Farmhouse serves some tempting beverages, including classic cocktails made with care and some outstanding ciders, reflecting this modern tavern’s signature combination of citified sophistication and always-appealing hominess.
