Cyrano's Farm Kitchen - Chicago
The longtime French restaurant, formerly Cyrano's Bistrot, in River North has downscaled to a more rustic, communal setting serving French country fare.

I really felt I was back in Paris after eating at this place. It was so good that I did not want the experience to end. Wine was fabulous, the food was divine, and the staff felt authentic. I this is a great place to go for a nice event or a special date night.
My husband and I were sorely disappointed in our meal. I was expecting fresh farm ingredients as the restaurant boasts but what we got was tough inedible lamb. I would have liked to give this more stars since the staff is very nice and service was good. The live jazz musicians and singer were also a nice touch but I was expecting cabaret performers (maybe that was our mistake to assume that). Anyhow, the food was sub-par. We ordered beets salad and mussels to start and those are pretty good. Main entrees were the lamb shank (probably the worst-tasting meat I've had) and the poached salmon. The salmon tasted super sweet. My husband couldn't finish either dish. Luckily, the dessert was a little redeeming but the center was frozen to the point that my fork couldn't pierce the pastry. Lastly, during our meal, I received a notification that my OpenTable reservation has been cancelled by the restaurant. Not only did I check in when I arrived, we have been dining there for the last 2 hours. Easy mistake to make so I just brought it up to the manager and he said he would call OpenTable to get it fixed but it's been 3 days and nothing yet. Oh wells, no biggie though. I usually enjoy the farm to table experience but did not at this restaurant. If it weren't for the staff and live performers, I would have probably give this place 1 star.
The food was decent enough but nothing uniquely spectacular, the warm fresh baguettes and pates was probably the highlight of the night. The other dishes (burger & salmon) were forgettable. Service was also extremely slow and not attentive. With so many other options in the area, I do not plan to return.
great drinks. great fresh food. yummy. delicious. go there with your friends. lets get crayz and go nuts and have a blast at this awesome place
It took nearly 30 minutes to get a MENU in this place. All the waiters just ignored us, and when the owner (?) finally came over to ask us how we were doing and we responded "we are just waiting to order", rather than taking our order, he wandered off and we waited another 5+ minutes before someone appeared. Also, the duck pate was hard, and the toast it came with was burnt. Definitely won't be returning.
