The perfect place for a date, group gathering, or a solo drink at the bar, Central Standard offers something for everyone. With its clever theme of a full menu and bar based on foods and beers famous to the central time zone, this River North restaurant & bar does not disappoint. I met friends for happy hour drinks and an early dinner on a Monday night. We got there around 6:00 p.m., with a reservation, and the place was almost completely empty. However, by 7:00 p.m., the place filled up with people eager to have a local brew and watch some football. My friends and I all ordered cocktails, which sounded delicious, but ended up being too sweet and a tad overpriced. I suggest sticking with one of their many beers on tap, you will definitely get your money's worth with those. Our food was delicious! I had the Chicken & Biscuits salad, a mix of everything that makes southern cooking so wonderful. My friends had the pork sliders, club sandwich with fries, and the goat cheese gnocchi...all with rave reviews. I will definitely be back to partake in some of the Central Standard's daily specials very soon.
