Bar Ramone - Chicago
Don't dare call Bar Ramone a tapas bar. The bustling River North hot spot is so much more--though it does specialize in Spanish fare and wines.
It's being hailed as Lettuce Entertain You's first-ever wine lounge, and it's quickly become a favorite for after-work shenanigans for those who frequent the area. There are more than 20 wines by the glass, plus moderns takes on sangria, Spanish-inspired cocktails and craft beers, including a Spanish pilsner.
Food-wise, you will indeed find classic tapas, from blistered shishito peppers, a variety of imported cheeses and Ibérico ham. But there are more choices to pair with beverages such as a daily crispy Spanish rice, Japanese ice fish and an American wagyu flat-iron steak.
Those coming for brunch should consider ordering the Basque brunch platter of a Spanish fried egg, Serrano 15-month aged ham, pan con tomate, aged manchego, marinated olives, garlic mushrooms and seared Butifarra sausage.
