The ambiance was nice and they have a lot of low tables with sofas that make for a good place to meet up with friends. The service was pretty slow, however. In addition, as soon as I got there, they began hounding our group to move to the other side of the bar because a wedding party had reserved the area where we were. They should have blocked it off earlier if it was to be reserved and it was irritating to be treated like a second class guest.

Hotel bar on the scenic Chicago River The Renaissance Hotel's Bar Novo on the Chicago River has a lovely outdoor rooftop deck and is great in the summer months. Last week, however, I went when it was a little chilly. Being indoors was just fine, however, as a friend and I enjoyed margaritas and tasty appetizers. Bar Novo's modern, yet warm decor with red lighting and wood and metal accents throughout is a perfect spot to enjoy happy hour or to begin a night on the town. Go for the excellent service.
