Tree Studio Complex

Judge Lambert Tree established the artist colony in 1894 and it was listed as a Chicago landmark in 1997. The complex was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on December 16, 1974.

Notable artists who've worked at Tree Studio include the likes of sculptors Albin Polasek and John Storrs; illustrator J. Allen St. John; muralists John Warner Norton and Louis Grell; and painters Ruth VanSickle Ford, James Murray Haddow, James J. Ingwersen, John Doctoroff, Gus Likan, Richard Florsheim, Leopold Seyffert and Pauline Palmer.
