Polish Museum of America

Seeing as Chicago has one of the largest Polish populations outside of Poland, it makes sense that the city is home to the Polish Museum of America. Located in West Town and founded in 1935, the museum houses a variety of Polish artifacts, artwork, costumes, and many other cultural wares. It is one of the oldest ethnic museums in the country, and a core member of the Chicago Cultural Alliance. The museum does much more than just curate cultural artifacts. Each year, it organizes numerous exhibitions, publishes bilingual catalogs, and conducts public programming. The overarching goal of the museum is to promote education of Polish history and culture by focusing on Polish art in a variety of mediums, which also includes movies, slide presentations, theater, and more.
