Original Sears Tower/Homan Square Tower

Everybody knows about the skyscraping Sears Tower (now Willis Tower), but there is actually an original Sears Tower, a 14-story building constructed as part of the Sears Catalog Facility. This original structure housed management offices, an observation deck, and circulation among floors for many of the company's 22,000 employees. The Tower was constructed in 1906, and once hosted radio station WLS: World's Largest Store. When Sears moved its offices to the Loop in 1987, they shut down the facility. The Tower is on the National Register of Historic Places and is maintained for possible renovation for community and youth programs.
